Abstract: Objective To investigate the significance of interleukin-8(IL-8)and(TNF-α)in expressed prostatic secretion(EPS)for diagnosis and classification of prostatitis Ⅲ [chronic nonbacterial prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS)]. Methods IL-8 and TNF-α levels in EPS were evaluated by ELISA in 60 men:controls(n=20),CPPS ⅢA(n =34),CPPS ⅢB(n =26).And the difference was analyzed among CPPS Ⅲ A and CPPS Ⅲ B and controls. Results The levels of IL-8 and TNF-α in EPS of patients with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis group Ⅲ A were significantly different compared with group ⅢB and control group(P <0.01);IL-8 and TNF-α levels in group Ⅲ B was higher than the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusion The detection of IL-8 and TNF-α levels in patients with prostatitis may contribute to diagnosis and classification of prostatitis Ⅲ.
