Abstract: Objective To study the incidence of lung cancer in different ages patients and the pathological types in our hospital from 2002 to 2008. Methods All 488 patients were divided into two sections, the first 3 years group (from September 2002 to August 2005) and the following 3 years group (from September 2005 to September 2008). Meanwhile the patients were also divided into 4 groups according to age:20 ~ 35 years old, 36 ~50 years old, 51 ~ 65 years old and 66 ~ 80 years old. The gender, smoking history and lung cancer pathologic type were statistically analyzed and compared. Results The sex ratio was 1.59:1 in the first 3 years group, and 1.35:1 in the following 3 years group. The difference was significantly different(P <0.05). There were 144 patients in the first 3 years and 138 cases in the following 3 years who had smoking history. Conclusions Before and after three years of lung cancer pathological type to the majority, squamous cell carcinoma in 51 ~65 years of age, consider main reason is closely associated with smoking. Stop smoking is an effective way to prevent lung cancer.
