Abstract: Obective To evaluate the diagnostie value of direct digital pantomography for fibrous dysplasia (FD) in jaw. Methods Six cases pathologically confirmed FD in jaw were reviwed. Results The age of all cases were from 3 to 51 with an average 22. 3 cases were maxilla and 3 were mandible. 4 cases were mono- osseous FD and 2 were poly-osseous FD involved maxilla and zygoma. Radiographic changes were divided to four types: radiolucency, radiopaque, mixed radiolueency and radiopaque and malignant tumor appearance. Expanding along the shape, unidentifiable borderline were characteristic radiographic appearance of FD in jaw. Conclusion The direct digital pantomography is an easy operating, inexpensive and useful new medical imag technique.
