Abstract: Objective To investigate endothelial function and its association with oxidized low density lipoprotein( OX-LDL ) in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS). Methods Fifty-five healthy human were enrolled as normal control group and 60 MS patients as MS group. Blood pressure, glucose, lipid and glycosylated hemoglobin, endothelial function, OX-LDL, body mass index and waist hip ratio were collected and analyzed. Results Endothelium-dependent vasodilation was negatively related to total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and OX-LDL ( r = - 0.24, r = - O. 26, r = - 0.29 and r = - 0.73, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 ), and was positively related to high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( r = 0.30, P < 0.05 ). Conclusion Vascular endothelium injury is related to increased OX-LDL in patients with MS. OX-LDL should be measured as routine biochemical examinations clinically.
