Abstract: Objective To compare drainage methods in treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. Methods Complications, vital signs during thoracentesis degassing method, closed drainage of thoracic cavity and closed drainage of thoracic cavity through central venous catheter were observed. Results All three methods reached the goal of treatment. The vital signs were more stable during closed drainage of thoracic cavity and closed drainage of thoracic cavity through central venous catheter. Closed drainage of thoracic cavity caused more complications. Thoracentesis degassing method was used more frequently. Conclusion Central venous catheter drainage is an easy, minimally invasive and safe way for treating spontaneous pneurnothorax.
