Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of multi-domain cognitive training intervention amongst older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).Methods One hundred and twenty participants were randomly allocated to intervention group (60 subjects) and control group (60 subjects). The intervention consists of twenty-four 60-minute sessions delivered twice per week over a period of 12 weeks.Outcomes were assessed by Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS),Visual Reasoning Test,Color Word Stroop Test (CWST) and Trail Making Test (TMT),and collected at baseline and immediate after intervention. Results (1) No significant group difference was found except attention index of the RBANS (intervention group 81.3±15.5,control group 74.3±12.1,t=-2.37,P=0.02) at baseline.(2) Most outcomes showed significant group differences after intervention, including RBANS total score (intervention group 86.4±12.6,control group 78.6±9.3,t=3.07,P=0.00),immediate memory (intervention group 83.4±14.1,control group 74.6±11.5,t=3.03,P=0.00),delayed memory (intervention group 91.8±17.4,control group 83.7±13.0,t =2.32,P =0.02),and visuo-spatial/constructional (intervention group 95.7±14.3,control group 89.1±12.9,t=2.16,P=0.03) indices of RBANS,the visual reasoning test (intervention group 5.2±1.9,control group 3.9±1.9,t=3.11,P=0.00) and completing time of TMT A (intervention group 110.0±44.4,control group 130.5±45.1,t=-2.07,P=0.04).Conclusions Multi-domain cognitive training intervention could effectively improve or maintain cognition of community older adults with MCI.
