Abstract: Objective To evaluate the relationships between unhealthy lifestyle and abnormal fasting blood glucose (FBG) and serum lipids in Chinese health check-up populations. Methods A total of 169 251 individuals who received health check-up during 2009 in 65 health check-up centers nationwide were enrolled in this study. The correlation of cigarette smoking, daily physical activity, and alcohol consumption with FBG,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C),total cholesterol ( TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),and triglyceride (TC) were analyzed. Results The rates of current cigarette smoking, sufficient daily physical activity, and over-intake of alcohol were 37.2%,42.8%,and 25.9%,respectively,which showed significant impacts on FBG and serum lipid level. Conclusions Lifestyles may play a role in serum level of FBG and lipid profiles. Quitting cigarette smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, and increasing physical exercises could help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
