Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of insulin detemir in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes (T2DM) with oral antidiabetic drugs. Methods33 cases T2DM patients with inadequate glycemic control were given insulin detemir at bedtime daily on the basis of their oral agents for 24 weeks. FBG, 2h BG, HbA1c and BMI were compared before and after the treatment. ResultsFBG, 2h BG and HbA1c were significantly lower in post-treatment with insulin detemir than in pre-treatment (P<0.01). Incidence of mild hypoglycemia was 9.1%, and there was no symptomatic hypoglycemia. Conclusion Insulin detemir could efficiently inprove diabetes care in poorly controlled T2DM with oral antidiabetic drugs, with a lower incidence of hypoglycemia and no obvious increment of body weight.
