Abstract: Objective To investigate the association between 45 bp insertion/deletion(Ins/Del)polymorphism of uncoupling protein 2(UCP-2)gene exon 8 and diabetic microangiopathy (DMAP). Methods A total of 163 patients with DM were selected(101 cases with DMAP,62 cases without DMAP),UCP-2 gene polymorphism was done, then genotype and allele frequency was compared.ResultThere was no significant difference in genotype frequencies and alleles frequencies for Ins/Del polymorphism of UCP-2 between control group and DMAP group. Conclusion No relationship of the 45 bp Ins/Del polymorphism in exon 8 of the UCP-2 gene with DMAP is found.
