Abstract: Objective To observe the effects of Shenling composed prescription (SLCP)on the metabolic pathway of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and the insulin resistance associated indexes in insulin resistant rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods T2DM rat model was created and assigned to different groups. Results Changes of fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, glycosylated hemoglobin HbA1c, insulin-like growth factor 1, insulin activity index, insulin resistance index were lower, IGF-1 concentration and IAI were higher in the Shenling-composed prescription group than in T2DM group. Conclusions Shenling-composed prescription has roles in improving insulin resistance and IGF-1 level in T2DM rats.
