Abstract: Objective To investigate the association of promoter polymorphism of pigment epithelium- derived factor(PEDF) with diabetic microangiopathy.Methods271 inpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into control group (T2DM without diabetic microangiopathy, n=105) and microangiopathy group (n=166). Genotypes of the rs12150053 T/C and rs12948385 G/A were analyzed.ResultsThe distribution of T/T, C/T and C/C genotypes of rs12150053 had no significant difference between the two groups (P=0.099). The frequencies of C and T allele showed significant difference (P=0.047). The distribution of G/G, G/A, and A/A genotypes and the frequencies of G and A allele of rs12948385 showed significant difference between the two groups (P=0.024, P=0.025). Conclusions The SNP of rs12150053 T/C and rs12948385 G/A in the promoter region of PEDF might be the independent risk factor for diabetic microangiopathy.
