Abstract: Objective To understand the relationship between lipid profile abnormalities and insulin resistance(IR). Methods IR was assessed by homeostasis model assessment. Fasting lipids and 75g OGTT were performed in the study population.ResultsDislipidemic patients had significantly higher HOMA-IR than did normal lipids individuals(3.39±6.35 vs 2.50±4.28,P<0.05). The prevalence of high TG,high TC and high LDL-C were gradually increased across quartiles of HOMA-IR by using chi-square analysis. But only differences in TG increments between different quartile groups showed statistical significance (all P<0.01). Conclusions Insulin resistance is higher in hypertriglyceridemic subjects than in normo-lipidemic subjects.
