Abstract: Objective To explore the risk factors for cardiovascular disease in adolescents with a family history of type 2 Diabletes. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 4023 adolescents aged 12-18 years. They were divided into two groups with(FH+)and without(FH-)family history of diabetes and measurements included BMI,waist circumference, blood pressure and fasting plasma glucose(FPG),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C).Results When compared with FH-group,FH+ group had significantly high levels of waist circumference,FPG,TC and LDL-C(all P<0.05).The prevalence rates of overweight, obesity and high SBP,FPG were higher in FH+ group than in FH-group.After adjusting the gender and age,the odds ratios(95%CI)of FH+ adolescents group for high SBP,high FPG,overweight or obesity were 1.54(1.10~2.16),2.06(1.46~2.98)and 1.33(1.12~1.59)respectively.Odds rations of the risk for two cardiovascular disease factors was 1.72 times in FH+ group versus in FH-group.Conclusions In adolescents with a family history of type 2 diabetes, the clustering of risk factors for cardiovascular disease is increased.Taking early inspection of,and following up this group will effectively decrease the cardiovascular disease
