Abstract: Objective To assay serum retinol binding protein-4(RBP-4) levels in subjects with overweight or obesity(OW/Ob) and impaired glucose regulation(IGR), and to explore the correlation between RBP-4 and insulin resistance. Methods RBP-4 were determined by ELISA in 52 NGT and 58 IGR patients. Results RBP-4 was correlated with WC, WHR,HOMA-IR,TG,FBG (r=0.289,0.322,0.377,0.41,0.432,all P<0.01).FBG,TG,WHR were independent influencing factors for RBP-4 (r2=0.186,0.305,0.340 respectively). Conclusions RBP-4 is increased in subjects with OW/Ob or IGR and correlated with FPG,TG and WHR
