The effect of melatonin treatment on renal antioxidant enzymes in diabetic rats

Abstract: A higher level of renal and serum malondialdehyde and lower activity of renal and serum antioxidant enzymes in STZ-induce diabetic rats as compared with in normal rats were significantly (P<0.05) ameliorated after melatonin treatment and accompanied by the deceased UAER, serum uric acid, lipid profile and the ratio of kidney over body weight (all P<0.05).
