Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the ultra so und ablations in the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusion of foot in d iabetic patients. Methods 66 patients with peripheral arteria l occlusion were treated with the ultrasound ablation. Through percutaneous app roach or surgical approach the ultrasound ablation catheter was inserted int o occluded arterial segments. Ultrasound frequency was 42 kHz and ultrasou nd energy was 45 watts. Results The ultrasound ablation was s uccessful in 61 of 66 patients (92.4%). After the treatment the gangrene was m itigated in 21 of 29 patients. The rest pain was improved in 29 of 35 patients . Long-term efficacy was 83.3%. Conclusion Ultrasound abla tion was effective and was a new approach for treatment of peripheral arterial occlusion in diabetic mellitus.
