Abstract: Objective To study the possible association between C reactive protein(CRP) and the pathogenesis of diabetes macrovascular complication. Methods The determination of CRP levels in type 2 diabetics with or without macrovascular complication, non DM patients suffering from macrovascular disease and normal controls was made by ELISA assay. Results CRP levels of type 2 diabetics with or without macrovascular complication and non DM macrovascular disease patients were elevated. There was no significant difference between CRP levels of type 2 diabetics with or without macrovascular disease and non DM macrovascular disease patients. Serum CRP level of participants with macrovascular disease was higher than that of participants without macrovascular disease. Conclusion CPR plays a role in the initiation and progression of T2DM macrovascular complication.
