Abstract: Objective To evaluate timing of surgery,the choice of operative method and the outcome of tibia Pilon fracture.Methods Thirty-two patients with unilateral tibia Pilon fracture operatively treated between 2006 to 2009 were followed up.The average age was 38 years.The average period between injury and surgery was 6.5 days.According to the ruedi-A1lgwer classification,there were 21 cases of type Ⅱ fracture and 11 cases type Ⅲ fracture.During operation,we selected the fixation by the types of fractiure.Results The average period of follow-up was 22.3 months.According to Mazur's criteria,the result was evaluated as excellent in 10 cases,good in 15 cases,fair in 4 cases and poor in 3 cases.Conclusion The key points for a successful operation are right procedure and timing of surgery,selecting the manner of fixation by fracture types and soft tissue injury.
