Abstract： Objective To determine the feasibility of substituting the pericardium for the grafts of coronary artery bypass(CABG).Methods Ten mongrel dogs under general anesthesia and artificial l ventilation,the autogenous pericardium from the experimental dogs were made into artificial conduits,bypass betwecn the aortic roof and the main right coronary artery(RCA)was performed on the beating heart off pump.Dogs were pastured postoperatively.Pericardial graft specimens made by using H-E staining were taken to examined under microscopy.Results The early mortality of the dogs was 10%postoperatively.After finishing the anastomosis,there was no significant different change in the coronary blood flow of RCA(P＞0.05).The pathological changes of the graft under microscopy showed that the patency of the giafts was satisfactory.Conclusion Under the condition of the shortage of autologous vessels,the selection of the perieardial substitute for CABG was feasible.
