Abstract: Objective To discuss the value of Ultrasound guided Interposing Puncture ethanol injection treatment for liver cancer. Methods 58 cases with 70 tumors were treated by percutaneous ethanol injection under the ultrasound nuidance. The lesions ranged from 1 cm to 4 cm in diameter. Each lesion underwent 2-6 times of injection, and the total therapeutic volume of ethanol per lesion varied from 6 ml to 60 ml. Results 58 cases, after 2-6 times of injections had been done. The total curative rate was 56.40%. 12 cases lesions disappeared,34 eases shrinked, and 24 cases had no change in size. All lesions presented no increase in CT scanning. Serum afeto protein(AFP) cantent decreased remarkedly in all patients whose pretreatment levels were high. Underwent histological examination of some lesions presented complete necrosis. No local recurrence was found. Conclusion The study was simple, safe and partly effective for the treatment of the liver cancer.
