Abstract: Objective To study the method of percutaneous vertebroplasty and its clinical efficacy.Method 80 cases with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures were treated by inoection of polymethyl methacrylate under DSA fluoroscopic guidance(36 cases with thoracic vertebra lesions,44 cases with lumbar vertebra lesions)The time of follow--up ranged from 6~18 months.Results The procedure was successful in all patients.Among 80 cases,64 cases experienced complete relief of pain,17 cases with conspicuous relief,4 cases with partial relief.CT scan showed leakage of PMMA in 11 patients and no clinical complication in others.Conclusion PVP may not only relieve pain of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures,but also improve their quality of life.
