Abstract： Object An attempt to study， for the first time， on the chemicalconstituents of the husk of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bge .. Methods The husk was extracted with ethyl acetate-water，separated on silica column， and structurally elucidated by spectral analysis (IR ， MS， 1HNMR，and 13CNMR， DEPT). Results 2 st erols were identified as (3 β，5 α，20 R，24 S)-stigmasta-7，trans-22-dien-3-ol (Ⅰ) and (3 β， 5 α， 20 R， 24 S)-stigma sta-7-en-3-ol (Ⅱ). Conclusion This is the first time to r epo rt the presence of the 2 sterols in this plant.
