Abstract: Object To study the tannin componen ts in the leaf of Corylusheterophylla Fisch. ex Bess. Methods The tannin components were extracted with solvents and separa ted on Toyopearl HW-40 (F) and Sephadex LH-20 columns. They were identified by 1HNMR, 13CNMR, FABMS, CD and 2-dimensional 1H- 1HCOSY spectra and chemical methods. Results 8 compounds were obtained for the first time from the plant. They were quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucuronide (Ⅰ); casuarictin (Ⅱ); rugosin C (Ⅲ); 1, 2, 3, 4, 6-penta-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose (Ⅳ), 1 ,2, 3, 6-tetra-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose (Ⅴ), degalloylrugosin F (Ⅵ); tellimagrandin Ⅱ (Ⅶ) and heterophyllin A (Ⅷ). Conclusion Compound Ⅷ, heterophyllin A was new.
