Abstract: A full-length cDNA of BnGID1 gene with 1 041 bp was cloned from Brassica napus L. BnGID1 is a homolog of Arabidopsis AtGID1 which was confirmed to encode a receptor protein of gibberellin. For addressing the function of BnGID1 gene, an over-expression binary vector pFGC5941-BnGID1 was constructed on basis of the binary plasmid pFGC5941 in which BnGID1 was driven by CaMV35S promoter. The dwarf 'NDF-1' plants were transformed via Agrobacterium tumefaciens containing pFGC5941-BnGID1. Twenty-three transgenic plants were then identified by PCR and semi-quantification RT-PCR. Grown in field, the heights of the transgenic plants and dwarf mutants were measured, respectively. The results showed that the transgenic plants were significantly higher than the plants of dwarf mutant NDF-1 with an average height of 49.05 cm, indicating that the BnGID1 gene over-expression could partially recover plant height of dwarf mutant NDF-1.
