Abstract： An efficient Agrobacterium-mediated transformation protocol for rice was established in our laboratory. BAR gene was transferred into R187 and Xiushui 04. Two restorer lines of two-line hybrid rice, using this protocol and more than 120 transgenic plants were regenerated. The exogenous BAR gene in those transgenic plants that expressed resistance to herbicide Basta was confirmed with PCR and Southern blot analysis. The limitation of this method for purifying two-line hybrid rice seeds was also discussed. Fig 2, Tab 1, Ref 13
