Abstract: This paper deals with the tree-ring gr owth characteristics of Cunninghamia lanceolata in the edge of its central distribution area. According to the analysis of the relationship bet ween th e first and second primary components of southern oscillation index (SOI) and th e D.B.H. growth of C. lanceolata in the past 20 years, the possible effects o f SOI on the growth of C. lanceolata was discussed. The results showed that th e D.B.H. growth model of C. lanceolata was established while the first and sec on d primary components of SOI were regarded as variables. The simulating precision o f the model reached 91.05%,which means the SOI possibly affected th e D.B.H. growth of C. lanceolata significantly (α=0.05). Tab 3, Ref 19
