Application of problem-based learning combined with traditional teaching in internal medicine clinical practice for the medical students in eight-year program

Abstract: Both traditional teaching method and problem-based learning (PBL) teaching method have their advantages and disadvantages.The combination of PBL with traditional teaching method was applied to the internal medicine clinical practice for the medical students in eight-year program.Teaching effect was evaluated by examination performance and questionnaires.The result showed that the students and teachers had a good impression in the new teaching model.On one hand,it contributed to cultivation of the students' abilities such as self-study,analysis,solving problems,oral expression and cooperation.On the other hand,it could help students to learn knowledge systematically,to improve their learning efficiency and examination performance.
