Abstract： To cope with needs of social and economic development, a batch of medical schools have become 5-year medical schools through merging with other schools or independent promotion since 1990s. They are the outcome of popularization of higher education and have produced necessary health professionals for the community health care for both urban and rural areas. This article tries to discussi on educational goal and strategy for newly-established 5-year medical school.
