Influencing factors analysis of bronchial artery perfusion chemotherapeutic on short-term efficacy for advanced-stage primary pulmonary carcinoma

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the influencing factors of bronchial artery perfusion chemotherapy (BAI)on shost-term efficacy for advanced-stage primary pulmonary carcinoma(APPC).Methods Data of 82 APPC cases from March 1990 to June 2006 treated by BAI were retrospectively analyzed.Results The responsive rate of CR was 12.2%(10/82),PR 39.0%(32/82),MR 28.0%(23/82),SD 18.3%(15/82)and PD 2.4%(2/82),respectively.The univariate analysis demonstrated that there were significant differences for the tumor diminution rate at the time of half a month after first BAI(TDR1/2month)(χ2=25.92,P<0.005),the number of times for BAI treatment(TBAI)(χ2=17.70,P<0.01),the tumor size(Tsize)(χ2=14.21,P<0.01)and the tumor blood-supply(χ2=6.59,P<0.005),which affected the short-time efficacy of BAI.The binary logistic regression analysis was undertaken for twelve concomitant variables by Backward-LR method and ten-step two times iteration history,the OR(odds ratio)of three variables which fitted-into the regression equation,TDR1/2month,TBAI and Tsize was 14.246,3.984,and 3.420,respectively.The Logistic regression equation could present as P(1)=1/[1+e-(-8.953+2.656TDR1/2month+1.382TBAI+1.230Tsize)],and the predicted percentage correct of this equation for efficacy and inefficacy of BAI was 85.7%and 70.0%.Conclusion TDR1/2month,TBAI and Tsize were influencing factors of short-time efficacy of BAI for advancedstage primary pulmonary cancinoma.
