Abstract: Objective Transvaginal sonography preoperative staging of endometrial cancer. Methods Preoperative transvaginal sonography (TVS) was performed in 54 patients with endometrial cancer. The depth of myometrial invasion was measured and compared with postoperative histopathological findings. Results endometrial echoes were identified in 42 cases, and the average endometrial thickness was 14.5±5.4mm(range 4.8~25mm). Myometrial invasion was correctly predicted by TVS in 85.2% of the cases. Sonographic staging was accurate in 44 cases (81.5%). Dopple revealed the resistance index and pulsatility index values for deep invasion were significantly lower than that of no invasion. Conclusions The results indicated TVS may have an important role in preoperative staging of endometrial cancer, and in planning individual therapy.
