Abstract: Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) is a common pathogen spread through sexual and mother-tochild transmission. There has been a year-by-year increase in the infection rate of CT and incidence rate of CTrelated diseases. The prevalence trend and genotype distribution of CT vary with areas and populations at home and abroad. CT can cause various urogenital tract diseases. Young women, people with multiple sexual partners and homosexual men all belong to populations at a high risk for CT infection. This article describes recent epidemiology of genital CT infection so as to provide a reference for further researches in and prevention of CT infection.
