Abstract: Photoaging, which is induced by long-term ultraviolet radiation, not only causes appearance trouble but also increases the risk for skin tumors. Hence, it is necessary to take corresponding measures to inhibit photoaging. Topical 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA)-photodynamic therapy (PDT) with red light, blue light, intense pulsed light or pulsed dye laser have been applied effectively in the treatment of photoaging and photo-induced skin damage in recent years. As a new technology for non-invasive rejuvenation, ALA-PDT has shown a favorable prospect.
