Application of 308 nm excimer laser in the treatment of vitiligo and factors affecting its efficacy

Abstract´╝Ü Recently, 308 nm excimer laser has become a promising new modality for the treatment of vitiligo. Compared with traditional phototherapy, 308 nm excimer laser is more user-friendly with satisfactory effect, quick onset of action and fewer adverse reactions. It has been used widely by clinicians in the treatment of vitiligo. A synergistic effect has been found between topical tacrolimus and 308 nm excimer laser in the treatment of vitiligo. There are various factors influencing the effects of 308 nm excimer laser, and this review presents these possible factors, including treatment sites, frequency, sessions, skin phototypes and disease duration, etc.
