Abstract： Before 1949 dentistry in china was far behind that in western contries.While there were about 20 dental magazines published.All the publications of the magazines were free of charge and presented as gifts,without fanational support but with a lot of difficulties.The older generation of dental intellectuals made remarkable contribution in the development of dentistry in China.
