Abstract: AIM:To observe the clinical curative effect of lung lavage by bronchoscopy in treatment with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and its impaction on pulmonary function and blood gas. METHODS:From June 2007 to June 2009, 104 cases of COPD at acute exacerbation phase patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, control group with 52 cases was treated with normal therapy and observation group with 52 cases was treated with lung lavage by bronchoscopy. The effective rate, clinical symptom score, pulmonary function indexes and blood gas indexes between the 2 groups were compared.RESULTS:The excellence rates and total effective rates in observation group were both significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05). Compared with pre-treatment, clinical symptom scores were significantly degrade(P<0.05), FVC, PEFR and FEV_1 were significantly increased(P<0.05), PaO_2 and SpO_2 were significantly increased(P <0.05), PaCO_2 were significantly degrade(P<0.05). Moreover, the improvement of clinical symptom score, pulmonary function indexes(FVC, PEFR and FEV_1)and blood gas indexes(PaO_2, PaCO_2 and SpO_2)in observation group were significantly better than those in control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION:Lung lavage by bronchoscopy in the treatment of COPD at acute exacerbation phase can enhance clinical curative effect rates and improve clinical symptom, score pulmonary status and blood gas.
