Abstract: AIM To investigate the regulative mechanism of electroacupunture (EA) on gastric acid secretion in rats. METHODS SD rats (n=75) were randomized into 5 groups: Control group, non-point group, Sanyinjiao group, zasanli group, and unite group. All rats in consciousness were stimulated by electroacupuncture except control group. We measured the pH of fasting gastric juice as well as its volume and acidity. Meanwhile radioimmunoassay was applied to assay the contents of gastrin (Gas) and epidermal grouth factor (EGF) in plasma, gastric juice and gastric mucosa tissue. Cellular ultra-microstructure of gastric mucosa coat was observed under a fransmission electron microscope. RESULTS After EA, it was discovered that the volume of the fasting gastric juice significantly reduced (0.30±0.11) vs (0.63±0.12) mL, P<0.01,and the acidity of the gastric juice significantly dropped (30±3) vs (41±1) mmol*L-1, P<0.05, and the pH of gastric juice rose. EA stimulation of zusanli led to a drop of plasmic Gas (84±22) vs (108±30) ng*L-1, P<0.01, a rise of Gas in gastric mucous coats (136±17) vs (73±4) ng*g-1, P<0.01, but little change in Gas in gastric juice. Besides, there were some other changes observed. EGF of both gastric juice and gastric mucous coat increased (3.2±1.1) vs (1.8±0.4) μg*g-1, P<0.01, and (5.1±0.8) vs (2.4±0.4) μg*g-1, P<0.01 respectively wheres plasmic EGF didn't change, were unfilled and didn't decrease in their number. The above indexes in non-point group were not different from those of control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION EA stimulation of zusanli can inhibit Gas release, reduce Gas contents in plasma and gastric juice, enhance contents of EGF in gastric mucosa and juice, change ultra-microstructure of gastric gland cells, and inhibit the secretory function of acinotubules in paritetal cell. Finaly, The gastric acid secretion is decreased.
