The Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery was established in May 1998. The Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery was listed in Journal Net, Chinese Academic Journal, and Chinese Periodicals of Statistical Origin edited by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2000, and included by Medline/PubMed in May 2005. The main readers of the Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery are senior and attending doctors engaged in clinical practice, scientific research and teaching activities on general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and related specialties. It provides all readers with Specific Comments, Workshops, Original Articles,Experience Exchange, Case Reports, Reviews, and Research Abstracts. The journal covers progress and achievements in basic research, experimental studies and clinical trials in order to comprehensively and systematically reflect academic trends and up-to-date advances both in China and abroad and to promote academic development and communication in the field of gastrointestinal surgery in China. The journal contains articles enriched by color photographs, which enhance comprehension of the texts. The responsibility of editorial board of Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery is to guide the development of gastrointestinal surgery, design the overall guidance for the journal and direct all editorial works, meanwhile, to write articles, organize articles and peer review articles. The editorial board of Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery are composed of gastrointestinal specialists all over China, who come from medical universities and their affiliated hospitals, or general provincial hospitals. We adopt the peer review system. We have established the journal website and periodically issue the related news. For the purpose of conveniently inviting, organizing and reviewing the submissions, a database of experts and national scientific grants and communication network has been established.
