The International Journal of Biomedical Engineering (once titled “Foreign Medical Sciences- -Biomedical Engineering Division ”) is a nationally distributed journal which is sponsored by Chinese Medical Association and the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences under the guidance of the Ministry of the Health of People’s Republic of China. As one of the series of Foreign Medical Sciences Journal, it was medical informative journal at the early stage and focused on scientific information, aimed at introducing international new technology atnd new developments in the field of biomedical engineering. Columns included reviews, translations and abstracts. The journal has made great contribution in promoting the subject construction of the research field of biomedical engineering and kept its own characteristic and advantages among similar journals in the country. The journal not only comprehensively and timely introduces international research progress, keeps track of the trend of development in the areas of biomedical engineering, but also reflects the research trends and hot topics in our country. It has greatly contributed to the subject construction, scientific research and education in the field of biomedical engineering in our country. Readers include research scientists, medical doctors, clinical engineers, teachers and students in universities of biomedical engineering and technical personnel from related areas. The journal sets several columns including Expert Column, Reviews, Original Articles, Brief Research Reports, Introduction of New Technology and News. Well-known scholars, professors from across the country are invited to be our editorial board members to keep a high academic quality. The journal has been included in Core scientific and technologic journals in Chinese Journal Citation Report (CJCR) and has formally joined Wanfang Database- Digitalized Journal Groups, Chinese Academic Journals (CD version), Chinese Journal Network and China Science and Technology Periodicals Database and China Biological Literature Database. It began to be indexed by The American Chemical Abstracts(CA) from 2007.
