Zoological Research, produced by the Kunming Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was established in 1980 and is published bimonthly. This journal deals with all aspects of zoology. Papers regarding the evolution, systematics, ecology and ethology of animals are especially highlighted. Up until December 2006, 126 issues, 12 supplements and 2403 papers had been published. The publishing cycle for the first volume of 2006 was 179 working days. The topics and abstracts are available in PDF format in both Chinese and English on the Zoological Research website(http://www.zoores.ac.cn). Articles are provided in English where available. Zoological Research was awarded the third prize of Excellent Chinese Journals in 2000 and an Excellent Scientific Journal of Yunnan in 2006. It was recognized as one of China's core zoology periodicals by the Guide to the Core Journals of China. According to the 2005 Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Citation Annual Report, its impact factor was 0.500, ranking 23rd among 56 biological journals, and 379th among 1608 science periodicals in Chinese S&T Journals. The percentage of articles cited by other journals is 88%.
