The Chinese Journal of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (CJTRD) is one of the leading official journals that is supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology and is sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association. The editorial board consists of 66 working scientists and physician leaders in their respective fields selected from China and overseas. The aim of the journal is to supply the scientific and medical communities with information on the latest research in both basic science and clinical medicine in any areas related to tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. The journal is therefore targeted to both health care professionals and researchers in all fields related to these topics. CJTRD mainly publishes original articles and brief communications, but also includes Commentaries, Clinical Case Reports and Discussions, Pathologic Slides Reading Corner, Reviews, Meeting Reports, and Forums,etc. In addition to over 20 different document and data retrieval systems in China, the journal has been indexed by more than 10 international database including the US Index Medicus, Medline, Biology Abstracts (BA, USA), and Russian Abstract Journals in Science and Technology. A recent statistical analysis by the Institute of Science & Technology Information of China shows that the total number of citations of CJTRD in literature has increased from 1812 in 2002 to 3879 in 2006, making it the premier academic journal in China. Furthermore, the impact factor of CJTRD was 1.171 in 2006 and the cited rate has remained around 0.9 during the past few years, establishing it in the forefront in all academic journals in China. CJTRD has been selected as one of the “Chinese Journal Phalanx” by the General Administration of Press and Publication in China, named one of the few journals with the Best Social Economic Benefits in China, and is recognized by the Chinese Institute of Science & Technology Information as one of the Top 100 Academic Journals in China.
