Acta Botanica Yunnanica (ABY) is one of the important Chinese academic periodicals on plant sciences. It aims at improving domestic and international academic exchanges and heightens our vocational level in plant sciences. ABY oriented itself to macro- and micromorphologic plant taxonomy, biogeography, phytochemistry, developing and utilizing of plant resources, introduction and domestication of valuable plants, physiology and ecology of plants, etc. Founded in 1979, the journal is a leading one on plant science in China, providing a forum for academic knowledge and research exchange. The journal is governed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and sponsored by the CAS’ Kunming Institute of Botany. It has been included in the Chinese Science Citation Index (CSCI) since CSCI was founded. Due to the efforts of many people — particularly the former editor-in-chief, Academician, Prof. WU Zheng-Yi and the previous editorial board members — the journal is progressively developing a significant role in plant science in China, particularly in the biodiversity-richest province of Yunnan. It is one of main periodicals to publish the articles related to botany and its branches; one of the Core Periodicals in Chinese Natural Sciences; one of the Biological Core Periodicals of Chinese Papers Citation. As a result of its positive role in academic exchanges, it was successively conferred on the second prize and the first prize of outstanding periodicals by Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1996 and 2000; It won the first prize of excellent scientific technological periodicals of Yunnan Province and the third prize of the second national scientific and technological periodicals in 1997. In recognition of its achievements in disseminating and exchanging the information, it won the honorable title of “the periodical with social and economic beneficial results” in 2001.
